When Guardian embarked to record Buzz, it was a departure on many levels. The group had decided that a change was needed from their previous producers—and label owners…John and Dino Elefante. Th e band had collectively decided that they would fare better better—both creatively and financially—on a new label. When Myrrh Records stepped up to both sign the band as well as support their next world tour—the band made fast friends with tour mate and successful producer…Steve Taylor—and enlisted him to be their new producer. The resultant album had a slimmed downed and more muscular sound—due to Taylor’s insistence on live performance in the studio—and minimal overdubbing. This work remains one of Guardian’s best and also featured 4 different album covers as Myrrh gave the band free rein to pursue their creative instincts.
